The Belmont Support Center is available for beta testing by the employees of Belmont Studios. Creating a support ticket is the fastest and most reliable way to get answers to your questions and solutions to your problems. This system is powered by osTicket. osTicket is a widely used open source support ticket system. It seamlessly integrates inquiries created via email, phone and web-based forms into a simple easy-to-use multi-user web interface. It manages, organizes and archives all support requests and responses in one place while providing users with the accountability and responsiveness they deserve. Information gathered by this system will be compiled into FAQ and knowledge base pages in the future. After successful testing, the Support Center will be made available to our schools. Try it today. There are many reasons to properly “shut down” your computer at the end of your business day. Leaving open windows on your system invites unwanted issues. Computer reboots due to power outages and Microsoft Windows updates can cause data corruption when open windows are forced closed. Running applications (open windows) can interfere with screensavers resulting in screen “burn in”. Leaving the security cameras streaming when no one is watching increases band width consumption and “wear and tear” on the client system’s cpu and hard drives. So, in short, close all appications (windows) when you leave your workstation. This includes email, Timestone, Photoshop, browser windows, and UPS. In the long run, you increase system life and save money on bandwidth, repair parts, labor, and our electric bill.
It’s now easier to reserve a Belmont Studios photographer for your school’s events. A 24 hour online reservation form is available under the School tab to request a specific date and time. An email is automatically generated and sent to our studio office. If the date and time is available, you will receive a confirmation via email the next business day. We hope this will save you time and make “booking” a photographer a little easier.


Auto Rotating Images
Our photographers have recently implemented a new tool to improve camera-to-web efficiency. Today’s digital cameras have built-in sensors which detect the orientation of images. The camera senses whether the image is vertical or horizontal and writes that information into the image itself. By utilizing this information in the production process, we have decreased the time necessary to publish photos to our online store. This is just another way we are improving the experience for our Belmont customers!


Applications Under Development
I have two new projects currently under development. The first one is a new technical help system featuring live online and email interfaces. See it here. The second is a new web store utilizing OsCommerce. See it here.
You have probably seen these before. Both projects are based on proven platforms that have been implemented hundreds of thousands of times on the web.
The help desk should be fully operational in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the new store will be partially implemented for 2010 graduation.

I am pleased to announce that the implementation of Facebook, RSS, and Twitter auto-updating is complete. All posts made by the administrators of this site will now be replicated to our Facebook page, RSS feed, and our Twitter account. This is accomplished faster than I can send one email. Special thanks to Stephen Atty for his help in implementing his brilliant piece of software for Facebook. Until today, this technology was not available. I believe it will have a major impact on social network marketing on the Facebook platform.
This same technique will be implemented in the near future as we hopefully migrate our commercial web site to a new in-house commerce solution based on the OsCommerce platform.
Who isn’t? In today’s fast paced world it’s hard to find the time. That’s why we are developing a system to get Belmont Support updates via Facebook and Twitter. Stay tuned…
