About Us

Founder of Belmont Studios

Belmont Studios was opened in 1958 in downtown Birmingham by Mr. Nick Cottis and his wife, Christine.  It did not take them very long to establish a great reputation in the photography business.

In 1972, the business moved into a new larger facility in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

In 1974, the Cottis’ son, Doug, joined the business.  At that time, Belmont Studios opened a full-service photo processing lab which enabled the studio to produce and fulfill orders on location.

In 1996, further business growth made necessary the move to our present location in Pelham, Alabama.  Our 8650 square foot facility includes three spacious camera rooms and a state-of-the-art digital photofinishing lab.

Today, Belmont Studios, under the direction of Doug Cottis, employs approximately twenty-five people including seven full-time staff photographers.
